Gamefest at Computerspielemuseum 2015
INTERNATIONAL GAMES WEEK BERLIN 2015
It is 2015 and once again the Computerspielemuseum in cooperation with Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur invites everybody interested in games or gaming enthusiasts to celebrate Gamefest. We are proud to present a rich and diverse program dealing with games culture.
This time a special theme will consist in exploring the conncetion between video games and theatre. The Swiss drama ensemble extraleben is to present their piece “Yet another world”, which takes place inside a video game and will engage the audience in joining the actors.
Furthermore, on April 23 the curtain will be raised at Kino International for another highlight of Gamefest 2015: Desert Planet, an 8-bit-musician from Finland, German hip hop artist Rockstah, Peter Smits and DJ Mijk van Dijk, a bedrock of electro, are to present a live show. Their acts will amply show, to what extent games and music are influencing each other.
We are also glad to have found a venue nearby: Alte Feuerwache Friedrichshain (the borough’s former fire-station) is on the other side of Karl-Marx-Allee very close to the museum. Its stage is perfect for accommodating our focus on theatre. This is also where a new round of the “Night of the Game Retold” is taking place and where Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur will present a selection of computer and video games in their special format “Spielungen” (Playings). On the ground floor you will find “Supersample”, an exhibition of game-related objects created by artists from all over the world. Some of the offers for experiencing and information will be designed with the energetic support of members of the Alte Feuerwache youth club.
The Gamefest at Computerspielemuseum will be from April 23 to April 26 as part of the Berlin International Games Week.
