Statement für Gamesbewahrung veröffentlicht

Mittwoch, 12. Juli, 2017
Games preservation poses new interesting challenges. Given the particular nature of interactive works, there isn’t at the moment a law infrastructure that allows Museums, Archives and Preservation Projects to properly conserve video games.

EFGAMP mission is not only to raise public interest about this subject, but also to help the institutions gain awareness of the matter, and helping the European Union in shaping new laws and tools that will allow preservation specialists to save the digital heritage and video games in particular. We are aware that the European Commission has reforming European Copyright law on its agenda.

To tackle this challenge, EFGAMP has issued a statement on the “Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on copyright in the Digital Single Market” from the perspective of the preservation of computer and video games as part of the digital cultural heritage. Is it possible to read the statement here, or download the PDF version.
